From right to left, you can see Knockvorneen Hill (New Quay village is hidden behind it) and the flat stretch of land leading to the Martello tower at Finvarra Point. Closer inshore, the the mouth of the bay is known as Muckinish Bay, the midpoint is known as Poulnaclogh Bay and the leftmost part of the bay is called Pouldoody Bay, leading to Bell Harbour.
