The start of the trail up the mountain begins in a carpark - there's also a museum cum shop. Sean McBride's life covers much of Ireland's history in the 20th century - he was the son of Major John McBride and Maud Gonne, served in the original IRA and served as a government minister half a century ago. As the plaque states, he won both the Nobel and the Lenin peace prizes.
