There are a couple of ways to approach the house - I wandered in from the side, but there is an easier path that leads straight up to the front entrance.
The first George Moore built the house on Muckloon Hill between the years of 1792 and 1796. He had made his money on wine and shipping. By taking the Oath of Allegiance to George III, he was able to lease land around the lake (as a Catholic, he was prohibited from buying it outright). He assembled an estate of over 12,000 acres.
