Location of
Tomb and Stone Circle marked by arrows.
|
This dolmen is
located at the end of a boreen. From experience, don't
try to drive down it.
|
The site is
well signposted (something of a rarity in Ireland)
|
|
|
The stone
circle used to be obscured by trees and furze. It's
presence was not even known to the landowner until a
retired Garda from Galway turned up some years ago and
asked to search for the circle on the (then covered)
hill.
|
He found it and returned later
with a billhook and asked if he could clear the
undergrowth from around the circle. The farmer had no
problem with that proposition, or indeed clearing
anything else off the hill either.
|
The circle attracts a small number
of visitors each year, mainly foreign.
