Glebe Stone Circles

On the R345 road between Neale/Ballinrobe and Cong, you'll pass the Glebe stone circles. There are four stone circles in all, in various states of dilapidation. The one closest to the road (marked Cirle 1 in the gallery below) is in the best condition, and the only one on public ground. However, the other three are in adjoining fields - a quick hop over a stone wall away. I'm not advocating trespass, but unless you have a penchant for worrying sheep, I doubt if you can do much harm if you take a quick look. Like many old sites in Ireland, the ubiquitous whitethorn serves to mark out the shape of the circles as much as the remaining stones. The circles are supposed to be located in three separate townslands. None are marked at the site, but according to the Ordance Survey map (No. 38), the three townslands around the circle are;Gortaroe, Tonaleeaun and Cooslughoga. If anyone has better info., let me know.
