2007 and all that

Sunset over the flooded Shannon Callows between Clonmacnoise and Shannonbridge last week.
The year is ending as it began - with torrential rain and high winds. It's probably not the best conditions to climb Carrauntoohil tomorrow. I will see out the rest of the year in Glenbeigh, Co. Kerry, and with a bit of luck, might even catch a glimpse of the sun occasionally.
It's also that time of year to mention that the Irish Blog Awards are open for nominations for the 2008 awards.

I've been enjoying your individual insights and images for a couple of years now, so a thank you is long overdue.
I spent a year in Galway 2001/02 and, for no reason I can really pin down, became enamoured of the place. Your site - unsentimental, creative and quirky - has helped to keep the flame flickering. Back for my third visit in February and am wondering if the Galway Walking Club tolerates 'visiting members'. Whether or no, warm regards to you for 2008; I look forward to seeing what pops up on North Atlantic Skyline.
All the best
Caroline (Brisbane, Australia)
