An Aimsir Caite

I realise, as an Irishman living in the west of Ireland, that I should be genetically engineered to withstand wind and rain, but...am I the only one bugged by the weather the last week or so? I can't see the tiles on the roof lasting much longer if these gales keep up.
Posted by Monasette at January 6, 2005 10:29 PMSouth Wicklow on the line here: it's as bad (at the moment) in the east.
Tarifa, at the southern tip of Iberia, is the wind-surfing capital of Spain. Strong and constant winds blow all the time. It is also the suicide capital of Spain. 'Nuff said.

PS. Nice pic - rain has to be coming down pretty hard before you actually see it in a photo.
Posted by: tonym at January 8, 2005 10:33 PMHere it is three days after your post of the 6th and it is still raining here in Sligo. The gale-force winds are nearly constant. Today (Sunday) we have thunder and lightning. With the wind-driven rain I can barely see out the window. But we should thank something that this rain is not snow. Every inch of rain would be ten inches of snow, probably over my two-storey by now.
Posted by: Larry at January 9, 2005 11:04 AMSaturday was the worst here in Galway; gale force winds, rain, hail and sleet and , unbelievably, periods of blue skies and sunshine too.
Posted by: John at January 9, 2005 10:27 PMDon't get me going on Saturday. We had three minutes of constant hail in Salthill. My kitchen flooded (a little bit) - of course these things only ever happen when the landlord is on holidays.
The Aimsir Cáite is all very well. It's that bleedin' Tuiseal Ginideach that gets me every time. Happy 2005!
